Toxoptera citricidus (kirkaldy), pericoloso afide degli agrumi di temuta introduzione in Italia.

Toxoptera citricidus is a species native to Southeast Asia, which was found recently in Europe, and it is now feared the risk of introduction and spread in Italy and in other Mediterranean countries. The host plants of T. citricidus mainly belong to the genus Citrus and other species of the family Rutaceae, but the insect is capable of colonizing species belonging to different botanical families. In this review the aphid life cycle and the key for the identification are described, as well as control strategies.

Toxoptera citricidus è una specie ritenuta originaria del Sudest Asiatico, rinvenuta recentemente in Europa, di cui si teme il rischio di introduzione e diffusione anche in Italia e in altri paesi del Mediterraneo. Le piante ospiti di T. citricidus afferiscono principalmente al genere Citrus e ad altre specie della famiglia delle Rutacee, ma l’insetto è in grado di colonizzare essenze appartenenti a svariate famiglie botaniche. Nella presente rassegna viene descritto il ciclo di sviluppo dell’afide, data la chiave di identificazione e sono presentate alcune strategie di lotta.
