This book presents historical and conceptual considerations about some of the topics of a general chemistry syllabus used by the authors as introductory lectures to the said course. On the basis of their teaching experiences, the authors have arranged their ideas, so as to make the salient points of scientific disciplines like chemistry clear and easily used. In other words, their considerations may be employed as outlines of lectures on specific issues, which are to be completed by adding pertinent explicative examples and reading passages. To conclude the discussion of this subject, the authors also give some ideas as to considering a cultural approach to the teaching of chemistry, which they consider very important, and in general their proposal to improve the present way of teaching scientific disciplines.
