Abstract
In early medieval society foreigners are an ambiguous and complex presence; the ancient Germanic consuetudines and the barbaric laws protected them, exalting the host’s duty, while the Church used its own property (guest rooms, xenodochia…) to their advantage. Nevertheless, the same sources certify the existence of an adverse attitude that dangerously placed foreigners among the numerous ranks of outcasts.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
