Abstract

The purpose of Reverse Engineering is to elicit the internal structures of a given system from external observations. RE plays a central role in systems biology, since is important also understand structures and dynamics of the genes and proteins. Identifying genes and proteins is not enough to understand the complexity of the system, but need to know how these objects interact, to identify novel drugs. Classical methods have been used to infer the genes interaction, whose drawback is to map genes in a binary state. RE based on bio-inspired algorithms instead is able to effectively reconstruct the networks in dynamic models.
