The study of ancient lights is difficult, both for the archaeological aspects and for expository criteria: for they are infrastructures, the survey cannot be separate them from their harbour planning context. This assumption forces to complex analysis, in which harbour facility and lighthouse are parts of a whole, if not unified at least organic, in its topographical, technical, structural, historical and artistic aspects but also historical, anthropological, etc. The book of B. Giardina shows a number of collecting data, but a careful reading also reveals too superficial methodology of the Author and his insufficient knowledge to support such a hard matter.

Abstract
The study of ancient lights is difficult, both for the archaeological aspects and for expository criteria: for they are infrastructures, the survey cannot be separate them from their harbour planning context. This assumption forces to complex analysis, in which harbour facility and lighthouse are parts of a whole, if not unified at least organic, in its topographical, technical, structural, historical and artistic aspects but also historical, anthropological, etc. The book of B. Giardina shows a number of collecting data, but a careful reading also reveals too superficial methodology of the Author and his insufficient knowledge to support such a hard matter.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
