Abstract

The Spanish Gate in Augusta and the Ligny Gate in Ortygia have common origins but different historical events: the first is still in its site, the second was knocked down at the end of the XIX century as the consequence of a series of dramatic upheavals. The instrumental relief of the first one provides information for “ the relief of the absent gate” . The requirements of the process meet the virtual modelling of the absence so creating an immaterial museum itinerary which delivers a tangible experience in no more existing contexts.
