Sanins from Saponaria officinalis L., Saponaria sicula Rafin., Silene vulagaris Garke, Silene sicula Ucria, Petrorhagia saxifraga (L.) Link. were determined. The AA. studied the antibacterial activity of the saponins against standard strains (n.9) and organisms (n.69) that have a pathogenetic role on the cutaneus infections.Susceptibility agar tes (bauer-Kirby), minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) , Minimum bactericidal concentration, ratio MBC/MIC and the effect of inoculum size on MICs were determined. Sanins shows appreciable antibacterial activity.
