The Pelagonianae emendationes, an unpublished work of the German scholar Christian Theophil Schuch (1803-1857), is here examined for the first time. The work (completed in April 1856) is transmitted in an autograph manuscript of 30 ff., which is now part of the Nachlaß Schuch kept at the Badische Landesbibliothek in Karlsruhe. In the first section of the present paper, some of Schuch’s most significant emendations to the text of Pelagonius’ Ars ueterinaria are considered in detail. Subsequently, the constitution of the text of § 359 of the Ars ueterinaria and of its source, Colum. VI 32,2, is examined in greater depth with the help of Schuch’s notes and of the annotations, also unpublished, of Wilhelm Heraeus (1862-1938) on the text of Pelagonius.
