The rats femoral artery is definitely the most frequently used model in microsurgical training for its easy dissection. Our model, consisting in the creation of several anastomoses in a row, helps the novice surgeon to assess his microsurgical level and to improve his capacity. Indeed, this leads to an amplification of the trainee surgeons mistakes, which add up to each other as the anastomoses are performed. We propose a simple method to evaluate the surgeon microsurgical skills during the training.

Abstract

The rats femoral artery is definitely the most frequently used model in microsurgical training for its easy dissection.
