Il rap e i diritti dei migranti

In the musical sector the rap has an important role. In fact in the world rap is seen as a narrative of street life, it can be criticized for being partial, egotistical, crudely stereotypical in its essentiality of class, race and gender characteristics. Rap as an extension of African-American popular culture, then becomes a global signifier for many forms of marginalization (Osumare, 2001). Different parts of the world now have their own version of rap. This paper studies specific example of rap artists persona about migration, specially second generation employing qualitative research method. Rappers tell stories through their music. This essay focuses on 2nd generation migrant hip-hop artists including Amir, Mike Samaniego, Zanko and their distinctive use of hip-hop as a tool of expressing their status of being in-between their ethnic heritage and Italian culture. The findings suggest that generally the rap has utility with youth and it is popular less rap migrants music.

Il focus del contributo è centrato sull’analisi dell’esperienza di produzione e fruizione di materiale simbolico musicale da parte di giovani italiani ma di origine straniera, noti come immigrati di seconda generazione, protagonisti di una continua riconfigurazione dell’identità. E’ stata condotta un’indagine presso i giovani al fine di riflettere su come essi individuino in certe forme di espressione culturale quale la musica rap uno strumento di articolazione identitaria. Il contributo prende in esame testi della musica rap, per illustrare l’approfondimento della migrazione nella costruzione dell’identità o delle problematiche ad essa correlate, dando alcuni esempi specifici, offrendo e fornendo le opportunità per intuire l’identità multiculturale e l’autorappresentazione come affermazione del sé
