From multiple researches whose aim was to achieve scientific results of the productive processes of Mediterranean agriculture which influences the climate change, emerges that the thematic of economic and environmental sustainability of intensive farming holds a particular interest. The branch of protected horticulture offers different research cues to deal with the problematic related to climate change. The issue revolves around the allocation of resources, or rather those means of production involved in the phenomenon of climate change. If the ground intended to be used for agriculture does not get worked on with an anaerobic lagoon, it might become a source of emission. In order to reach the fulfillment of sustainable agriculture, maintaining the biodiversity of the ground is highly important. The ground intended to be used for intensive horticultural farming is more exposed to damage. The main problematic, concerns the infestation of rook-knot nematodes. Considering the area of the Mediterranean basin, these pathogens are in fact mainly present in the Sicilian agricultural soil, especially if the latter is intended to be used for the cultivation of vegetables in a protected environment. The fight against terrestrial parasites through the fumigation acquires a significant importance in medium and long-term; in other words, with business aim (grounded on the income) and social aim (environmental). The cost of fumigation represents in fact a part of the cost of the horticultural cultivation production, which is of partial importance. This study reports the results of an survey of the fumigation cost of protected horticulture companies in Sicily. The economic and environmental suitability depends on these companies for the strategic choices of medium-term.

Abstract
The economic and environmental suitability depends on these companies for the strategic choices of medium-term.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
