Abstract

Restoration, sustainability and urban regeneration are three different ways of seeing intervention on the building environment. They start from only temporally different phrases and have a common matrix: to return building assets of the past to a current use.The contribution makes explicit the concepts of recovery, sustainability and regeneration, linked to the built environment and its dynamics. The gradual transition from safeguarding the image of the building asset to strengthening the values it expresses, to sustainability and to widespread interventions are milestones that distinguish the last twenty years.
