Peritoneal mesothelioma is a rare neoplasm. The authors report a case of malignant mesothelioma of the peritoneum, with primary diagnosis of stenotic tumor of the sigma, liver metastasis and ascites. Definitive diagnosis was made after laparotomy. The therapy was intraperitoneal administration of bleomycin alone. Good results were obtained in the treatment of malignant ascites but the patients died after 54 days.
