Abstract

Throughout his career Dario Fo has always cultivated the relationship between art and theatre, now through the graphic rendering of his scenic visions, now through the recovery and use of iconographic sources used as research tools. At the centre of this contribution there is his “narrating by images”. On the one hand, the theatrical storyboard show us how much painting served to him as a means to reasoning, to stopping and developing an idea, allowing him a preventive and total image of the dramaturgical work in which the dialogues were already ‘acted’ thanks to the power of drawing. On the other hand, his Show-Lessons will reach the maximum degree of synthesis between figurative art and theatre, realizing a new dialectic between body and image and thus reaching original ways of vision and experimentation.
