In the course of time, different elements of historical and architectural value have completely disappeared as a result of natural or man-made disasters, with irreparably effects on cultural heritage. In such a context, cataloguing and classifying architectural artefacts in order to create a digital database easy to consult represents an added value for further historical and geometric studies which the Laboratory of Representation at the SDS Department of Architecture, University of Catania, has been conducting for years around the area of south-eastern Sicily. Thus, cultural heritage can be preserved for future generations and thanks to modern sophisticated and precise survey technology can be consulted online for further studies and researches and for a wide dissemination of knowledge. Innovative survey and representation instruments are then primarily used to involve a wider audience and not purely for the academic community. The present research proposes the systematic cataloguing and comparative study of some church façades presenting unique and emblematic features of the Sicilian Baroque.
