The examination of the holotype of P. abnormis Beier 1963, which is deposited in the Biozentrum Grindel und Zoologisches Museum (ZMH-Hamburg, Germany), highlighted an unusual case of misidentification that might have resulted from the activities of an internal parasite. Based on our observation and the evidence here presented, we thus propose P. abnormis as a junior subjective synonym of P. flavoguttata Serville 1839, syn. nov.
