Animals with learning and memory alterations induced by the intracerebroventricular administration of 6-hydroxydopamine or intraperitoneal injections of diazepam or buspirone were treated with L-α-glycerylphosphorylcholine (α-GPC) at the dose of 100 mg/kg/day for 20 days. The cognitive deficit, studied with the test of passive avoidance behavior, was recovered in all experimental groups. Motor activity tested with an open field was also increased by α-GPC. These results suggest that the mechanism of action of α-GPC involves, beside the cholinergic system, also other neurotransmitters in the brain.

Abstract
Animals with learning and memory alterations induced by the intracerebroventricular administration of 6-hydroxydopamine or intraperitoneal injections of diazepam or buspirone were treated with L-α-glycerylphosphorylcholine (α-GPC) at the dose of 100 mg/kg/day for 20 days. The cognitive deficit, studied with the test of passive avoidance behavior, was recovered in all experimental groups. Motor activity tested with an open field was also increased by α-GPC. These results suggest that the mechanism of action of α-GPC involves, beside the cholinergic system, also other neurotransmitters in the brain.File in questo prodotto:
