A preliminary paragraph deals with the phytopathological problems arising as a consequence of the substitution of sour orange with other rootstcks due to the epidemic spread of Citrus Tristeza virus. Two short paragraphs summarize upto date informations on peculiar aspects of fruit brown rot and mal secco disease caused by the oomycete Phytophthora citrophthora and the mitosporic fungus Phoma tracheiphila, respectively. In a succesive paragraph two emerging diseases are described, Alternaria rot and Alternaria brow spot of mandarin hybrids, caused by Alternaria alternata (formerly, A. citri) and A. alternata pv. citri, respectively. A final paragraph is devoted to two endemic diseases caused by Basidiomycetes
