A multiphase bilateral dc/dc converter was developed to equip a C segment, next-generation car having a 42-/14-V dual-voltage electric power system. For validation purposes, the converter was compared with a conventional single-switch converter. Experimental results show that the new solution has greater efficiency over the entire input voltage range. It required smaller output inductances and was found to be more compact.

Abstract
