The Authors evaluated mechanical properties of composite resins with different thickness light cured by two different lamps: a halogen lomp of new generation (Astralis 10 - Ivoclar Vivadent) and a LED lamp (MiniLED - Sotelec), used in continuous modality to high intensity of power (> 1000 mWIcm2) for exposure times of 10 and 20 seconds, Mechanical tests of Vickers hardness, compressive strength, flexural strength have been made on samples with suitable shapes. The results have shawn that the halogen source used in this research allows to reach greater conversion degrees in a shorter time than the LED one. Moreover, it has been possible to define optimal operative conditions in terms of exposure time, sample thickness, in order to obtain homogeneously cured moterials. Vickers hardness scores both in the upper surface, directly exposed to light source, and in the lower surface, allowed to evaluate degree of polymerisation of any sample according to different time and modality. So, it has been observed that composite resins behove in different ways probably depending on the composition of their basis. AUTHOR KEYWORDS: Composites; Halogen lamp; Light curing
