Either laparoscopic or laparotomic surgery is usually per{ormed for apical suspension. The question regarding laparoscopic approach concerns the kind of the prosthesis, the choice of removal of uterus, the controversies in how to apply the mesh, and at the end the convenience of this sort of surgery comparing to the traditionai laparotomic one. Conclusion: Laparoscopic approach for correcting apical defect is increasing. The more used prosth'esis is polypropylene,. the removal of the prolapsed uterus depends on both the age,and the preference of the patient. The shape of the mesh employed is in accordance with the choice of the surgeon. This sort of approach is very promising owing to the mininvasivity. Furthermore this method provides a wider and more detailed vision of the operative fieid. The morbidity of the laparoscopic is less and, in addition, the advantage regards a shorter hospitalization, a reduction of both post-operative pain and convalescence. Finally, the aesthetic results are better then the traditional cut. According to the anaesthesiology, the laparoscopic has more limits then the laparotomic surgery.
