The choice of a bioclimatic approach suggests a project in harmony with local climate, with a view to maintain indoor comfort conditions. The focus of the present study is the analysis of different building materials and other passive strategies to understand how comfort conditions of the indoor environment can be improved. Actually, all the analyses were applied in the design of a small laboratory located in an upper secondary vocational school located in Trondheim (Norway). The same building proposed for Trondheim school was studied in Catania (Italy) with the aim to compare the performance of materials in such different climates. The aim of this work is providing a background to a research project, which endeavours to develop a test laboratory where thermal comfort conditions of the indoor environment will be analysed through a specific simulation software.
