The estimate of average potential wave energy along the coasts of Sicily is here described. In order to obtain information regarding the wave energy at the coast, i.e. at a water depth of 20 m, a third generation spectral wave propagation model has been adopted using as boundary conditions the ECMWF operational archive wave and wind data. A detailed validation of both input data and onshore data has been performed. The analysis showed that the areas characterized by the highest energy are those located on the West side of Sicily and on the Strait of Sicily.

Abstract
