Abstract
The marriage policy influenced the development of the history of Sicily in the Aragonese age. In fact, the marriage between the heir of Frederick IV the Simple, Maria, and Martin I the Young opened the way for the annexation of Sicily to Aragon. In this context, the vicissitudes of Blanche of Navarre, second wife of Martin I, are highlighted. Although the myth of the queen as a symbol of the island’s independence has now been set aside, Blanche is remembered for her support to Sicily’s autonomy and the promotion of assemblies.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
