Projects or acoustic corrections within the architectonic spaces that host both theatrical shows and exhibitions require an accurate study of the acoustical parameters in the hall to guarantee good quality listening and understanding both of music and speech. In this way, people may utilize specific software that, in function of the geometry of the auditorium and the acoustical characteristics of the material used, allows determining the distribution of sound and room- acoustic parameters. The proposed paper wishes to show the results of the Raysoft software used in the study of acoustic quality in the congress meeting room at the Centro Polifunzionale of the Council of Nicolosi, a little town on the slopes of Etna Volcano. The operating procedure is articulated in the following phases. - Definition of the geometrical and architectural features of the meeting room - Definition of the acoustic property of the surfaces treatment - Determination of the sound energy distribution - Determination of the Reverberation Time (RT) and Sound Pressure Level (SPL) by measurements within the room - Analysis of the "acoustic response" of the room - Proposal for the acoustic correction to optimize acoustic performance of the room. The values of the Reverberation Time calculated by the RAYSOFT model have been compared with the time values of Reverberation Time measured within the auditorium. This comparison has allowed us to verify both the accuracy and worthiness of the elaboration using the proposed model.
