In this paper the optimal size of a Photovoltaic Systems (PVS) for isolated and geographically distributed user loads is considered. The sizing of stand alone PVS is reported as an evaluation of the energy produced by the PVS itself to establish the optimal value of the PV array power and the battery capacity. The deterministic method and the probabilistic approach are used to design the PV system and the battery storage for three selected geographic sites in Italy, characterized by different values of sun radiation. Numerical results and summary tables are also enclosed in the paper.

Abstract

In this paper the optimal size of a Photovoltaic Systems (PVS) for isolated and geographically distributed user loads is considered. The sizing of stand alone PVS is reported as an evaluation of the energy produced by the PVS itself to establish the optimal value of the PV array power and the battery capacity. The deterministic method and the probabilistic approach are used to design the PV system and the battery storage for three selected geographic sites in Italy, characterized by different values of sun radiation. Numerical results and summary tables are also enclosed in the paper.
