La lingua delle coppe magiche siriache

Mesopotamian Incantation Bowls have been studied now for more than 150 years. They bear direct witnesses of at least three Aramaic varieties of Sasanian Mesopotamia (4th-6th cent. AD): Jewish Babylonian Aramaic, Syriac and Mandaic. The book is the first thorough Italian study on Incantation Bowls, specifically aimed at describing the linguistic features of Syriac bowls. The work comprehends transcription, translation and commentary of 38 texts, palaeographic study of both published and unpublished material, together with a full description of the phonology, morphology and syntax of the Syriac variety employed in the bowls.

Sulla superficie interna delle coppe magiche mesopotamiche (IV-VI sec. d.C.) sono stati preservati esorcismi, formule apotropaiche e historiolae in tre varietà aramaiche tarde: aramaico giudaico babilonese, siriaco e mandaico. La monografia illustra per la prima volta in lingua italiana il fenomeno delle coppe magiche mesopotamiche con particolare attenzione ai testi e alla grammatica dei testi in lingua siriaca. Il lavoro include trascrizioni, traduzioni e commento di 38 coppe, studio paleografico completo del materiale edito ed inedito, nonché descrizione e discussione della fonologia, morfologia e sintassi della lingua siriaca attestata nelle formule.
