La farfalla accecata. Strutture dell’immaginario nell’opera di Hugo von Hofmannsthal

«The Unknown is hidden in the appearance of our present and this appearance is able to change everything»: we are over the threshold of the visible and the invisible needs new forms of figuration. Hofmannsthal’s antinomian writing is the favoured tool for the irruption of the invisible into the imaginative world: it originates a creative process in which the reality has visionary features and the imaginative world starts from the disintegration of reality itself, creating a new horizon-of-sense inhabited by ghosts of the unconscious, of the dream, of the memory, of the fantasy. Hofmannsthal, operating a transformation of the vision, makes extreme the connection between absence and presence, creating a poetics of the imaginary world from deletions and absences. In this imaginative space the existence comes out by virtue of a game of antitheses and references through epiphanies and brainwaves in new forms of writing.

«Nel presente si cela sempre quell'ignoto la cui apparizione potrebbe mutare tutto»: siamo oltre la soglia del visibile e l'invisibile ha bisogno di altre figure, di un teatro fantasmatico abitato da parvenze. La natura antinomica della scrittura di Hofmannsthal è strumento privilegiato dell'irruzione dell'immaginario: essa mette in atto un processo creativo in cui il reale assume tratti visionari e l'immaginario si costituisce a partire dalla dissoluzione del fattuale, creando un nuovo orizzonte di senso popolato dai fantasmi dell'inconscio, del sogno, della memoria, della fantasia. Hofmannsthal, operando una trasformazione della visione, determina una estremizzazione del nesso di assenza e presenza, creando una poetica dell'immaginario a partire dalle cancellazioni e assenze in cui trapela l'essere, in virtù di un gioco di antitesi e rimandi, per epifanie e folgorazioni.
