The volume comprises, in keeping with the chronological choice already adopted by C. Munier for the Corpus Christianorum 148, the canons (with translation) expressed by the Gallic synods which took place between those of Arles 314 and Agde 506 . This deals with almost two centuries of legal activity which has as a background a period just as long , with more or less serious repercussions, during which the Gallic region but also a good part of the Christian world, underwent radical modifications of a historical, political and religious nature. In the Introduzione Generale the historical and symbolic significance of the two assemblies is emphasised as they mark the chronological limits of this quite intense legislative activity and on the importance of the latter not only as a platform for the future canon law but also as a precious document, an inestimable source of reference, to reconstruct the history of the region.

Abstract
The volume comprises, in keeping with the chronological choice already adopted by C. Munier for the Corpus Christianorum 148, the canons (with translation) expressed by the Gallic synods which took place between those of Arles 314 and Agde 506 . This deals with almost two centuries of legal activity which has as a background a period just as long , with more or less serious repercussions, during which the Gallic region but also a good part of the Christian world, underwent radical modifications of a historical, political and religious nature. In the Introduzione Generale the historical and symbolic significance of the two assemblies is emphasised as they mark the chronological limits of this quite intense legislative activity and on the importance of the latter not only as a platform for the future canon law but also as a precious document, an inestimable source of reference, to reconstruct the history of the region.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
