Abstract
Three constitutions of the Codex Theodosianus (CTh. 14, 9, 1-3) allow us to reconstruct quite clearly the fundamental aspects of higher education in the three elements of which they consist: teaching staff, students and premises. The upheaval that affected the empire in the V century A.D. also swept through the schools in the West, which, however, survived in the 'University' of Constantinople, where the classical tradition was perpetuated through the study of liberal arts.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
