The performance of the mode superposition techniques used in literature for dynamical soil-structure interacting problems is evaluated by comparison with closed form solutions available for a simplified continuous model. It is shown how some methods converge to the exact solution if a sufficient number of modes are included in the analysis, while others provide erroneous results regardless of the number of modes considered.

Abstract
The performance of the mode superposition techniques used in literature for dynamical soil-structure interacting problems is evaluated by comparison with closed form solutions available for a simplified continuous model. It is shown how some methods converge to the exact solution if a sufficient number of modes are included in the analysis, while others provide erroneous results regardless of the number of modes considered.File in questo prodotto:
