LA PRESENZA CINESE IN SICILIA: UNA REALTÀ IN RAPIDA TRASFORMAZIONE

The Chinese presence in Italy is an established phenomenon. In Sicily this community is setting up late, around the mid-90s, but rapidly increases its presence. In this work we were analyzed the main aspects of the Chinese migration: in particular the flux structure, determined by the inner mobility, and the settlement strategies in Sicily. The research is conducted on a municipal basis and examines the impact of the Chinese on the total of immigrants from developing countries; the results were presented in two thematic maps that show the spread of this community over three years (2004-2007).

La presenza cinese in Italia è un fenomeno consolidato. In Sicilia questa comunità si insedia tardivamente, intorno alla metà degli anni ’90, ma incrementa rapidamente la sua presenza. In questo lavoro sono stati analizzati gli aspetti più significativi dell’attuale migrazione cinese ed in particolare la struttura del flusso, in parte determinato da processi di mobilità interna, e le strategie di insediamento in Sicilia. L’indagine, condotta su base comunale, prende in esame l’incidenza dei cinesi sul totale degli immigrati da PVS; i risultati sono stati presentati in due cartogrammi che evidenziano la diffusione di questa comunità nell’arco di un triennio (2004-2007).
