Abstract

The Sicilian Regional law n. 10/2005 instituted the Tourist Districts (TD). A TD is characterized by the active presence of tourist firms, public institutions and a community of people in a geographical bounded area. This work analyses the distribution of tourist arrivals inside the TD in order to identify tourist profiles, using the data-set of a survey carried out in Sicily. Employing a Two-Step clustering procedure we classified the units in two clusters that we defined ‘Only tourists’ and ‘Not only tourists’, according to their own characteristics.
