The discovery of graphene has stimulated enormous interest on 2D carbon nanostructure in view of their extraordinary properties and potential applications. A challenge has always been to identify a high yield production pathway, suitable to give graphene or graphene-like structures without collateral structural damage and with the possibility to manipulate the layers (individually or collectively) in order to have a particular arrangement for given applications. In this work a green and controllable strategy is presented to grow few layer graphene flakes at the electrodes during the ablation of a carbon targets in water with the assistance of an electric field (5-10 V/cm).
