Olivieri of Castile is a novel that sees the light in Italy in the middle of the XVIth century; compiled in French language around middle of the XVth century, it is translated in Spanish from whose version is drawn the Italian translation. It is a chivalrous that present a varied narrative motives that carachterized brief fiction, but that are inserted in a romantic plot. Translated in different European languages, the Italian edition here presented for the first time is equipped by an introduction that it illustrates the relationships of the text with the Italian and the Spanish tradition

L’Olivieri di Castiglia è un romanzo che vede la luce in Italia solo nella metà del secolo XVI; redatto in lingua francese intorno alla metà del secolo XV, viene tradotto in spagnolo dalla cui versione è tratta la traduzione italiana. È un romanzo cavalleresco al cui interno si ritrovano svariati motivi narrativi tipici della narrativa breve inseriti in una trama tipicamente romanzesca. Tradotto in diverse lingue europee, l’edizione italiana che si presenta per la prima è corredata da un’introduzione che illustra i rapporti del testo con la tradizione italiana e quella spagnola
