An important subject in the realm of international business is the identification of the antecedents of the firm’s decision to grow internationally, of the factors affecting the timing and location of the entry into a foreign market, and of the modalities through which a firm spreads its activities across country borders. Since managerial cognitive bases and perceptions have received limited attention in the international business literature, insights from studies on how executives’ hubris affects their strategic choices may shed new light on the logic and outcomes of firms’ international growth strategies. Abstract

In this perspective, our paper aims to develop an analytical framework with regard to international growth strategies of firms managed by CEOs who are affected by hubris.
