New structural data, recently collected in the Hyblean Plateau (SE Sicily), integrated with stratigraphic information on Quaternary syntectonic deposits, allow us to reconstruct a updated kinematic model of the Pleistocene and Recent deformation of the region. This model includes three distinct stages, each characterised by the development of extensional tectonic features, associated with the concurrent growth of contractional structures. This new model has been referred, as a whole, to a dynamic evolution dominated by the migration of an incipient extensional plate boundary through the Hyblean Region.
