The tourist and cultural services card of the “Distretto Cultural Sud Est” as tool in support of the development of a “Smart Territory

Today, alongside the concept of Smart Cities that refers to the process of modernising the city through investment in ICTs and transport infrastructures, and the introduction of new models of governance and ways of implementing efficient processes that are all aimed at the promotion of sustainable forms of economic development, increasing the quality of life, and enhancing the human and social capital, the concept of the Smart Territory is increasingly asserting itself. In this context, the integrated promotion and enhancement of the components of a territory must be supported by appropriate strategies and actions for the creation of a Local Tourism System of a Smart type. A project that introduces intelligent tools such as a card system for cultural-tourism services and a qualification process of those services by a Services Charter, can encourage the fruition of as vast and diverse a territory as that of the South-East Cultural District, in terms of adopting those Smart criteria that allow the level of local competitiveness to be increased
