The Immune System is the natural defence of an organism. It comprise a network of cells, molecules and organs whose primar tasks are to defend the organism from pathogens and maintain the integrity of the organism. The cooperation between the components of the network realize processes of pattern recognition, learning and memory, in an effective and efficient way. Our knowledge of the Immune System is still incomplete and mathematical modeling was shown to help better understanding the underlying principles and organization. In this paper we provide a brief introduction to the biology of the Immune System and we describe several approaches used for modeling the Immune System.

Abstract
The Immune System is the natural defence of an organism. It comprise a network of cells, molecules and organs whose primar tasks are to defend the organism from pathogens and maintain the integrity of the organism. The cooperation between the components of the network realize processes of pattern recognition, learning and memory, in an effective and efficient way. Our knowledge of the Immune System is still incomplete and mathematical modeling was shown to help better understanding the underlying principles and organization. In this paper we provide a brief introduction to the biology of the Immune System and we describe several approaches used for modeling the Immune System.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
