The study regards two terms, plausibilis and procubus, recurring in the anonymous Heptateuch poem (5th century AD), which constitutes the largest composition of the genre of biblical paraphrase and the most adherent to the model. In addition to the adjective procubus, which seems to be attested only here, we focus on the differences in the use of the adjective plausibilis present in this poem, in order to highlight its semantic evolution in late Latin. We also discuss the diffusion of both adjectival forms in medieval authors, in order to demonstrate how the language of this late antique paraphrase, as well as that of other poets who had composed works of the same genre, constitutes a linguistic code for authors of the following ages. The study has been conducted on the basis of specialized lexicons: in particular, the files from the ThlL archive have been taken into account.

Abstract
The study has been conducted on the basis of specialized lexicons: in particular, the files from the ThlL archive have been taken into account.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
