Colorectal cancer is a common disease in western populations. MATCH project report the development of an automated diagnosis system to support colorectal cancer diagnosis, treatment and research. The computer based platform integrates clinical, biomedical and patient data for access by medical practitioners, cancer research scientists and pharmaceutical companies. The project develops a framework of medical and biomedical data to allow efficient handling of colorectal cancer diagnosis, treatment and research. With the functionality of the platform architecture existing for the current data, new data types can be incorporated to strengthen and develop the system further. The next phase of biomedical data integration is based on mass spectrometry molecular image data. Addition of this type of data provides an extension to the platform making it suitable for biomarker discovery.
