In the past 10 years the scientific community has shown a growing interest in the possibility to make low-cost electronics and sensors by using printing technologies and innovative materials. This interest is driven by needs for low cost mass-production processes e.g. for RFID tags, antennas, keyboards, displays and sensors. Moreover, the rapid prototyping of cheap devices and sensors by printing technologies is also of great importance for the scientific community including research laboratories and academy. This paper addresses printing technologies with a special focus on inkjet printing and applications in the field of sensing devices. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media.

Abstract
