The hybrid FEM-BEM and FEM-DBCI numerical methods are proposed for the computation of transferred earth potentials from grounding grids. The method foresees the decomposition of the analysis domain in detached subdomains to be analyzed by means of FEM and linked together by means of integral equations, which involves the Green's function of the stratified soil. A great advantage of these methods is that the numerical solution directly gives the electric potential on the earth surface.

Abstract

The hybrid FEM-BEM and FEM-DBCI numerical methods are proposed for the computation of transferred earth potentials from grounding grids. The method foresees the decomposition of the analysis domain in detached subdomains to be analyzed by means of FEM and linked together by means of integral equations, which involves the Green's function of the stratified soil. A great advantage of these methods is that the numerical solution directly gives the electric potential on the earth surface.
