International guidelines have defined various aspects relating to electric vehicles that this paper presents briefly. International directives promote the adoption of electric vehicles, but do not plan an adequate revision of the electric distribution and of its present regulation to make efficient the promotion. The vehicle charging systems achieve to absorb electric power from 20 kW up to 200 kW and will have a great penetration in every area of use. Therefore, mainly in residential areas and in areas of public activities such as hotels, restaurants, public entertainment venues, charging systems for a number of dozens/hundreds of vehicles, they will have a significant impact on the power distribution system, pose problems of interference among the load areas, of safety for users and of service continuity to guarantee batteries topup. This paper discusses and suggests some solutions to these problems.
