Mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls are utilized all over the world and have been studied by several authors for the understanding of soil-reinforcement interaction. Such structures have shown good performance during strong earthquakes than conventional structures. The paper concerns the behavior of polyester reinforced MSE walls under seismic loading. Particularly, the locus of maximum axial force has been detected by a numerical analysis under static and earthquake loading in order to individuate any difference, according to the wall loading conditions. The model was firstly validated for static loading conditions by comparing numerical outcomes with measurements from a full-scale test.

Abstract
Mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls are utilized all over the world and have been studied by several authors for the understanding of soil-reinforcement interaction. Such structures have shown good performance during strong earthquakes than conventional structures. The paper concerns the behavior of polyester reinforced MSE walls under seismic loading. Particularly, the locus of maximum axial force has been detected by a numerical analysis under static and earthquake loading in order to individuate any difference, according to the wall loading conditions. The model was firstly validated for static loading conditions by comparing numerical outcomes with measurements from a full-scale test.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
