This book presents the complete edition of Wieland's fairy tales, collected in the volume Jinnistan, and investigates the phenomenon of contamination between human and fairy figures, between East and West, between fairy tale tradition and social and political satire. Wandering through sumptuous gardens and rich rococo palaces, inspired by European courts, these tales tell the story of the end of an era through a kaleidoscope of images and motifs in which distant spaces and times, reality and fiction, irony and arabesque coexist. Here the utopia of a new social and political reality, capable of transcending the limits of the Enlightenment itself, emerges for the first time.

Si presenta in questo volume l’edizione integrale delle fiabe di Wieland, raccolte nel volume Jinnistan, e si indaga il fenomeno delle contaminazioni tra figure umane e fatate, tra Oriente e Occidente, fra tradizione fiabesca e satira sociale e politica. Attraversando sontuosi giardini e ricchi palazzi rococò, ispirati alle corti europee, queste fiabe raccontano la storia della fine di un'epoca attraverso un caleidoscopio di immagini e motivi nei quali convivono spazi e tempi lontani, realtà e finzione, ironia e arabesco. Qui affiora per la prima volta l’utopia di una nuova realtà sociale e politica, in grado di superare i limiti dello stesso Illuminismo.
