The increasing complexity of modern applications calls for more complex embedded computing resources, which integrate several processing units with specialized hardware and virtualization support on a single platform to boost the computation capabilities. These subsystems require a communication system able to support different flows with diverse real-time requirements. In this context, the Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) family of standards plays an important role. This work proposes the design and the implementation of a framework for enabling TSN communications in heterogeneous platforms with virtualization. Preliminary experimental results are reported, which provide some insights on the limitations and advantages of the proposed framework.

Abstract
The increasing complexity of modern applications calls for more complex embedded computing resources, which integrate several processing units with specialized hardware and virtualization support on a single platform to boost the computation capabilities. These subsystems require a communication system able to support different flows with diverse real-time requirements. In this context, the Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) family of standards plays an important role. This work proposes the design and the implementation of a framework for enabling TSN communications in heterogeneous platforms with virtualization. Preliminary experimental results are reported, which provide some insights on the limitations and advantages of the proposed framework.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
