Aim of the paper is to outline a numerical strategy to design forced nonlinear systems producing a multijump resonance behavior. In particular, the case of a nonic polynomial nonlinearity is explored. Multijump resonance is a phenomenon typical of non-autonomous nonlinear systems corresponding to a frequency response that is a multi-valued function, thus leading to an hysteresis behavior with several nested windows with respect to the frequency of the driving signal. The possibility of exploiting this peculiar behavior for the realization of sensing device able to determine the occurrence of frequency drifts is explored.

Abstract

Aim of the paper is to outline a numerical strategy to design forced nonlinear systems producing a multijump resonance behavior. In particular, the case of a nonic polynomial nonlinearity is explored. Multijump resonance is a phenomenon typical of non-autonomous nonlinear systems corresponding to a frequency response that is a multi-valued function, thus leading to an hysteresis behavior with several nested windows with respect to the frequency of the driving signal. The possibility of exploiting this peculiar behavior for the realization of sensing device able to determine the occurrence of frequency drifts is explored.
