In the paper the main aspects of the design and of the construction process of the Cozzo Vuturo (Enna, Sicily, Italy) landfill were described. Details about the landfill site and about the geological and geotechnical aspects of the landfill design were also described together with the results of tests carried out for the physical and mechanical characterization of the waste. Finally, the results of some seismic stability analyses carried out using the displacement approach were presented and discussed.
