The study under consideration in this paper, focuses on microclimatic monitoring of physical quantities of interest in order to preserves the painting "Portrait of a Gentleman" (1570), restored in 2018 and attributed to El Greco, located inside the Civic Museum of Catania, Castello Ursino in Italy. Particular emphasis has been given to measurement of relative humidity, temperature and vibrations inside the theca where the artwork is located. An IoT system, with vibrational transducers, a wireless transmission and data management has been used in order to demonstrate the suitability of the proposed device for cultural heritage applications
